Award to project in Denmark carried out with our products

Copenhagen’s Orientkaj Station has been awarded Denmark’s Bæredygtig Beton Pris, a prestigious sustainable concrete award following a public vote. This award recognizes the most excellent and sustainable Danish concrete architecture.of the Orientkaj Station, which forms part of Copenhagen’s M4 metro. Our subsidiary Unicon has supplied ready-mix concrete.

" The concrete has been used to invite users in. The station is economically sustainable because it is designed to last for many years, socially sustainable because it is safe, light , open, and environmentally sustainable because the concrete construction is slim with minimized material consumption"  says Lene Espersen, jury member of the Sustainable Concrete Award and CEO in Danske Arkitektvirksomheder, the Danish association of Architectural firms.

Project description of Orientkaj Station
The metro project contributes greatly to making Copenhagen more sustainable. The station is optimized in its design and shows how simple - and thus also sustainable - a station can be designed, while the station provides an optimal passenger experience and contributes to green and sustainable development in the surrounding district.
Orientkaj Station has been designed and executed to create an architectural and aesthetic solution, where the properties of the concrete are utilized to the utmost, and the work with concrete surfaces and complex concrete castings has resulted in a very nice result. The station is characterized by sleekdesign, prestressed in-situ molded constructions.

The concrete makes it possible
The station is light and airy, full of transparency and views - over the sea and the district, with beautiful aesthetics. The safety parameter is especially important in the beginning, as there are not yet that many people living in the Nordhavn district. Therefore, you have a choice of a distinctive construction that only stands on two small "feet".
It is the concrete that makes the lightweight construction possible, with lots of views and no hiding places. The station hovers over the landscape, and such a small footprint would not be possible in materials other than concrete.
In addition, the robustness of the concrete gives the station great durability, which also contributes to sustainability.
